The Mother of them all!

So yesterday I got a chance to see one of the coolest things of my life. The story starts out 3 days prior, when I got a notice of a TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) in my e-mail. I started to think, what is going on around here. Well I did some more research and found out that the TFR was actually for a VIP movement, which usually means that the President is coming. I did some research on the internet and it was true Obama was coming to town.

This was awesome, that means Air Force One was coming!! Now, I really have a facination for Air Force One, Marine One and any other type of Presidental transport. I found out that it was coming to KLGB (Long Beach Airport), so I planned to meet there with some fellow aviation friends.

The day came and Brandon, Andy, Ciara and myself arrived at KLGB. It was about 1400 when we showed up and began looking for a good spot to hang out to see the landing. Well we didn't know what was going to shut down to the public (due to security reasons) so we finally decided on being on top of a parking structure.

At appox. 1430 I heard over my handheld radio that the airport was official shut down. I was very excited at this point. About 15 minutes later we saw a jet coming in on final to runway 30 at KLGB. Everyone that was there got excited thinking it was Air Force One, I had heard on the radio that it was actually a JetBlue flight. Around 1500, we saw another plane coming in on final, at this point I heard on the radio, "Long Beach Tower Air Force One checking in on the ILS 30" this was soooo cool. The tower responded with "Air Force One, cleared to land runway 30." A few seconds later Air Force One was on the ground, with full thrust reversals going. The jet rolled down to the end of 30 and taxied off.

Obama then deboarded and got into Marine One and took off to Costa Mesa. We had heard on the radio, "Long Beach Tower, Marine One checking in continuing on route previously briefed."

After they left, we decided to try and get closer to Air Force One for some good pictures. After 10 minutes of searching we finally saw a place where we got 30 yards away.

Air Force One is amazing to see upclose, no matter how you feel about Obama, Air Force One is impartial and an amazing site. Here are some pictures of our trip.

Long Over Due

It has been forever since I have been on this to update anything. Lets see what have I been up too? Well I am in my last semester at CSUF, I will finish up and be graduated this May. I am so excited about all of that. I am flying like crazy and enjoying that life, I have surpassed over 275 hours in the which is awesome but still nothing more than a private pilot. I am kinda slacking there. I have also become the captain of the Cypress College Flying Chargers, which is alot of work but so worth it. Hopefully I will keep up on this more. Here of some pictures to sum of the last few months

Viva Las Vegas!!

So we were in Vegas all weekend and had a great time. Many fun adventures happened and the saying is true. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas but here is a fun little picture from the weekend. Not even 5 hours into the trip one of my best friends feels the effects from some good old fashioned Las Vegas fun!!

San Diego Overcasting

So Friday before the boys headed out to Vegas for a bachelor party I decided to head down on a little flight to San Diego. I ended going down with Tyler (who had just gotten his private pilot certificate) I followed him down there and we had a good time. There was a nice little 8,000 ceiling and we went to Casa Machatos, which is a bomb mexican food place, then I flew over Disneyland at 1,500 feet on the way back. It was a great little flight. There is a look over the Orange County basin with John Wayne in the center of the picture, and below it is Tyler sitting in Fun and the Sun Aviation's newest Cessna 172 55515.
